What is Acca Matched Betting?

An accumulator (acca) combines multiple selections into a single bet where all legs must win for the accumulator to pay out. In matched betting, laying an entire accumulator in one exchange market is impossible for custom accumulators. Instead, matched bettors use sequential laying (lay-as-you-go).

By ensuring that the kickoff times of your selections do not overlap (e.g. Leg 1 at 12:30, Leg 2 at 15:00, Leg 3 at 17:30), you lay Leg 1 before kickoff. If Leg 1 wins, you lay Leg 2; if Leg 1 loses, your accumulator is settled and your lay bet wins on the exchange, locking in your target qualifying loss or free bet profit without ever laying the subsequent legs.

How Does Acca Freeze Work?

Bookmakers like Sky Bet offer features such as Acca Freeze, allowing you to "freeze" a winning scoreline mid-match (e.g., when a team leads in the 60th minute). Once frozen, that leg is guaranteed as won by the bookmaker regardless of the final result.

When you freeze a leg:

  • If you haven't laid the leg yet, it counts as an automatic win with £0 liability.
  • If you already laid the leg, the bookmaker guarantees the back win, and if the opposing team comes back to draw or win, your exchange lay also wins, creating a lucrative double-win arbitrage scenario!
