How odds conversion works

Betting odds reflect the implied probability of an outcome occurring, plus the bookmaker’s profit margin (overround). Different regions and platforms prefer different formats:

• Decimal (European): Displays total return for every £1 staked (e.g. 2.50 = £2.50 total return).

• Fractional (UK traditional): Displays profit relative to stake (e.g. 6/4 = £6 profit for every £4 staked).

• American (Moneyline): Positive numbers show profit on a £100 wager (e.g. +150); negative numbers show stake needed to win £100 (e.g. -200).

• Implied Probability: The statistical chance represented by the price: Probability = 1 / Decimal Odds × 100%.
