Tracking and performance

Keep every bet in the record, including the ones that lost or got worse odds than planned. Otherwise the totals won't tell you much.

When you place it

Save the method, date, match, market, selection, actual odds and stake, site and bet reference. For matched bets, keep both sides, matched lay stake, liability and commission.

Use the tracking button if there is one and check what it saved. If an entry is wrong or missing, keep the confirmations and a note until it's fixed. The tracker doesn't prove a bet was accepted.

When it settles

  1. Check whether it won, lost, was void or had another result.
  2. Record what was paid back, including whether that contains your cash stake.
  3. Subtract cash stakes and fees.
  4. Add all sides of a matched bet together.

Count both sides

If the bookie makes £20 and the exchange loses £20.30, you're 30p down overall. Moving money between those accounts doesn't create another win or loss.

A £10 free-bet token isn't £10 cash profit. Keep unused rewards separate. Open bets haven't settled yet, and money held for liability isn't automatically a loss.

Compare like with like

Pick a period and include every loss, void and fee. Group matched bets together so you're comparing whole offers with whole offers.
